Scripture Cuttings:
Isaiah 44:6-8 You are my witnesses! Is there any god besides me? There is no other rock; I know not one.
Psalm 86:11-17 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
Romans 8:12-25 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear….
Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 'Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where, then, did these weeds come from?' He answered, 'An enemy has done this.'

Confession:
All may make the sign of the cross in remembrance of baptism
as the presiding minister begins:
P:  In the Name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen

P:  Let us prepare our hearts and minds for repentance before God. (pause)
  O Lord...
C: you are God and there is none like you,
but we distract ourselves with other allegiances.
We think of ourselves as good and upright
and so become judge in your place.
We call ourselves children of your kingdom,
  yet we act like...
                spoiled children.
Save us, O Lord, from the sins we know,
save us from the sins we hide. (pause for reflection and self-examination)
P:  We can cry, even to God: “Abba! Father!” as we are God’s children led by the Spirit. A spirit of adoption through God’s son: Jesus Christ; so that we might know salvation. For Christ's sake our sins are forgiven. Through the Holy Spirit we may put to death the sinful deeds of our bodies and bear witness as children of God, and live as heirs of the kingdom to come. In the name of the Father, and the Son, + and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen. -wjw

P:  The peace of the Lord be with you always!

C: And also with you!
